Reverend Jo Mead

Reverend Mead is an Elder in Full Connection and a member of the Great Plains Conference. Immediately prior to coming to University UMC, Jo was the pastor at Hugoton United Methodist Church. Jo attended Friends University for her undergraduate degree and obtained a Masters degree in Gerontology at Wichita State University. She worked for Prairie View Community Mental Health Centers in Newton and Marion before feeling called to go into nursing home administration. That did not quite take care of Godís call, so Jo obtained a Masters of Divinity at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, graduating in 2012. While in school, Jo was on the staff at Asbury United Methodist Church in Prairie Village where our former pastor Gayla Rapp serves. Jo is married to Steve Mead, a Beechcraft retiree and contract pilot. She has three grown sons and six grandchildren. Originally from Antelope, Kansas (near Marion), Jo has many family members who are very happy she is closer to home.
