UUMC Building Addition – The Atrium
Rendering July 2009

A new look that blends with the existing and lets the public know that we
are open for business with lots of glass to the south. The atrium is made
up of 2,860 square feet of new space that includes:
l
Handicapped accessible restrooms convenient to the
Sanctuary and the Education Building
l
Full-sized elevator to Fellowship Hall
l
Expanded interior Narthex space which will expand our
ministry to connect with each other:
Coffee Fellowship after services
Coffee bar to make and serve coffee and refreshments
A place to meet and greet after funerals and weddings
Attending a lecture or class
A quiet setting for meditation and prayer
Special features of the project include the ability to add the Atrium
without having to modify the external structure of the Education Building,
brick to the west to help reduce heat load in the Atrium, and a circle
drive with handicapped parking which includes drop off locations for the
Sanctuary and Education Building through the Atrium and for University
Hall.
Project cost is estimated at ~ $700,000 which includes $600,000 for the
Atrium and $100,000 for the Circle Drive. Not included in this estimate
are the costs of preparing to build (architect fees, permits, site
preparation, etc.), the cost of the furnishings, and the cost of the
projector and retractable screen for lectures.
A capital campaign is in progress to fund this expansion. Donations of any
amount are welcome and most appreciated. Mail your contribution to UUMC
Building Campaign, 2220 N Yale, Wichita, KS 67220.
